Dr. Gustavo Gómez Rodríguez is a university specialist in hand and reconstructive surgery of the upper limb recognized by the Argentine Association of Hand and Reconstructive Surgery of the Upper Limb and a specialist in Orthopedics and Traumatology recognized by the Ministry of Health of the Nation and by the Argentine Association of Orthopedics and Traumatology.
He is a full member and member of the directive committee of the Argentine Association of Hand Surgery and Reconstructive Upper Limb, as well as a member of the scientific committee of the Argentine Congress of Hand Surgery.
He is currently Director of the Alumni Association of the Buenos Aires Hand Group, in charge of 4 annual Fellows in Hand Surgery, recognized as a reference center in the training of future upper-limb surgeons by IBRA (International Bone Research Association, Switzerland).
He completed his initial medical studies at the National University of Córdoba and his full residency in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the British Hospital in Buenos Aires, an institution where he was later Chief of Residents and Fellowship in Open and Arthroscopic Surgery of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder.
At the same time, he also has training in Advanced Microsurgery carried out at the British Hospital in Buenos Aires and at the Argentine Catholic University.
He then specialized in Open Surgery, Arthroscopic Surgery and Minimally Invasive Surgery of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York (United States) during 2013, together with Dr. Michael Hausman.
He has visited prestigious upper limb centers such as the Pulvertaft Hand Center in Derby (England, 2017) and the Kaplan Institute in Barcelona (Spain, 2019).
He is Current Reviewer of two of the most important journals in the world in the field of research in hand, wrist and elbow surgery: "The Journal of Hand Surgery: EV" and "The Journal of Hand and Microsurgery".
He is a teaching instructor (Faculty) of the "Advanced Course on Hand and Wrist Trauma" of the AO Foundation for the Study of Osteosynthesis (Switzerland).
He is a teaching instructor (Faculty) of the "Advanced Course of Wrist Arthroscopy" of the IWAS (International Wrist Arthroscopy Society).
He has numerous publications in scientific journals as well as scientific contributions in national and international conferences on Orthopedics and Traumatology.
He has been invited as a speaker at national and international conferences in Argentina, Ecuador, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Germany.
He has also received three times the award for the best scientific study presented at conferences of the Argentine Association of Orthopedics and Traumatology and the Argentine Association of Orthopedic Trauma.
